The first Concordia golf outing was held May 21, 2011 at Cumberland Country Club in Pinson. The purpose of the outing was to promote friendship among Concordia members. We had a very successful event with 15 members participating.
Team 1 members were Alan Cook, Billy Cooke, Jack Vaughn and Ron Stutts. Their score was 4 under par. Most valuable team member, voted by the team, was Alan Cook.
Team 2 members were Elmer Klemenc, Woody Holloway and Larry Faulkner. Their score was 2 over par. Most valuable player was Elmer Klemenc.
Team 3 members were Dale Johnston, Curt Johnson, Larry Lunsford and Matt Young. Their score was 4 under par. Most valuable team member was Matt Young.
Team 4 members were Nixon Wood, Larry Taylor, Alan Speegle and Andy Anderson. Their score was 2 under par. Most valuable team member was Nixon Wood.
Prizes were awarded to the 2 teams tied with the best score and for the following:
• Long drive on hole 17 was Dale Johnston.
• Closest to the pin on Par 3 number 4 was
Larry Lunsford.
• Closest to the pin on Par 3 number 13 was
Dale Johnston.
Jack Vaughn did a couple of special (spoof) recognitions:
• Player needing Driving help was Matt
Young who received an over sized driver.
• Player needing putting help was Larry
Faulkner who barely missed receiving a free
round of golf at the Beijing International Golf
Club.
